Twitter Blue launched in July 2021 and is the site's first subscription service, currently available in the US, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.

The service, which costs $2.99 (£2.30) per month, gives users a 30-second edit function to revise tweets, the ability to bookmark folders, and a "reader mode" for condensing long threads.

But now the Tesla founder, just days after he disclosed a 9.2% stake in Twitter, has proposed several changes, including cutting the price and allowing users to play with dogecoin and local currency.

Users should also be given a checkmark similar to a blue verification tick, he said. ...Read More

Biggest Shareholder Proposes Twitter Blue Subscription Shake-Up

Elon Musk, Twitter Inc's biggest shareholder, on Saturday suggested a raft of changes to the social media giant's Twitter Blue premium subscription service, including slashing its price, banning advertising and giving an option to pay in the cryptocurrency dogecoin.

Musk, who disclosed a 9.2% stake in Twitter just days ago, was offered a seat on its board of directors, a move which made some Twitter employees panic over the future of its ability to moderate content.

In a Twitter post, the head of electric vehicle maker Tesla Inc suggested that users who sign up for Twitter Blue should pay significantly less than the current $2.99 a month, and should get an authentication checkmark as well as an option to pay in local currency.

‘Is Twitter dying?': Elon Musk's cryptic post on ‘top' accounts

Over the last few months, the world’s wealthiest person went from being one of the loudest voices on Twitter to the company’s largest shareholder and board member.

Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk on Saturday took yet another dig at Twitter while sharing a list of 10 most-followed Twitter accounts and asked "Is Twitter Dying?" as most of the handles aren't very active on the microblogging site.

"Most of these 'top' accounts tweet rarely and post very little content. Is Twitter dying?" Musk, who was recently appointed to Twitter's board, tweeted.

He explained that American singer Taylor Swift hasn’t posted anything in 3 months and Justin Bieber "only posted once this entire year".

Musk will be an unusual addition to the Twitter board. He isn’t an expert in advertising, which is how Twitter makes money, and he has a habit of tangling with regulators, who are a constant concern for any large social media platform. Jack Dorsey, Twitter’s former chief executive, is set to depart the board later this year when his term expires. Unlike Dorsey and Musk, the remaining 10 board members keep relatively low profiles. They don’t tweet nearly as often, and one hasn’t tweeted at all...Read More
